TEEN HEALTH CENTER
located in Salem High School
a satellite clinic of North Shore Community Health, Inc.
The Teen Health Center is a school-based health center and provides comprehensive primary health care to the students at the high school. The clinic is staffed with a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner Approximately 20% of the Salem High School student body is enrolled in the Teen Health Center.
The services offered include but are not limited to:
Physicals for work, school, or sports, sick and injury visits, lab tests, immunizations, gynecological visits, and health education and promotion.
Students are seen on a walk-in and appointment basis.
Referrals are made for specialty care and mental health services.
Parental consent is required for any student under 18 being seen for a non-confidential visit.
Under Massachusetts law, minors (students under 18) can consent to care for specific services that are defined as confidential.
New programs at the health center include:
Adolescent health lending library
Teen Outreach Program (OP), an after school youth development program for students that combines classroom curriculum with community service. TOP has already completed two very successful semesters with more than 30 graduates of the program so far!!!
