School Nursing Services
School nurses are integral members of a child's educational team, enhancing the educational process by promoting good health for optimal learning. They act as a medical liaison for children with chronic or temporary disabilities between home, school, healthcare providers and community resources.
School nurses provide emergency first aid for injuries and initial care for illnesses; conduct state mandated screenings: vision, hearing, postural, height and weight; implement and monitor state immunization and physical examination requirements; and provide direct nursing services following school department policy. All school nurses are available for consultation regarding any health concerns.
